  • Horn Jag quarterback, Jermaine Givens put on a great show in Horn's 45-38 playoff win over Temple! Givens passed for 293 yards and three touchdowns and he also ran for 203 yards and one score. The Jags now move on the play in the second round of the playoffs and will face Wylie on Friday at Mesquite Memorial. The kickoff is scheduled for 4:00pm.
  • Three Mesquite ISD football teams have battled their way into the 2018 playoffs! The Mesquite Skeeters will play Waco Midway in Waco, Horn will play in Temple against the Temple Wildcats and Poteet will play at home at Mesquite Memorial vs College Station. All three games will be played on Friday, November 16th.
  • North Mesquite quaterback, Kamaury Thompson passed for 207 yards and 3 touchdowns on Friday, October 5. He also had 140 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns in the stallions 41-34 win over Tlyer Lee.
  • This past friday night in the Mesquite Skeeters 44 to 20 win over Plano West, MHS QB Dylan McGill threw 6 passes. He completed 5 for 203 yds and five TDs!
  • North Mesquite running back turns in a huge game during the first week of 2018! Stallion running back Jawaun Clark had 285 yards rushing in NM's 22 -12 win over Sam Houston. He scored TD runs of 49 and 33 yards. The win was in Tim Seder's first game as the NM head coach!

  • Dylan Wright, the 6'5" wide receiver from West Mesquite, recently made a verbal commitment to play college football next year for the Aggies of Texas A&M.

  • Makenzie Pinkston is a senior at Horn High School. Recently she was named as a member of the Calloway Junior National Golf Team!
  • Texas A&M-Commerce plays West Florida on Saturday, December 16th for the NCAA Division II Football National Championship. There are two former Mesquite ISD athletes on the A&M-Commerce roster: Vincent Hobbs (Horn HS) and Donte Howell (North Mesquite HS). Good Luck to our former athletes!! 

  • This word just in...Oklahoma Sooner offensive lineman, Erick Wren (former Horn Jag) has been named to the 1st Team All Big 12 Offensive Line! Congratulations to Erick!

  • Texas Longhorn LBer, Malik Jefferson (former Poteet Pirate) has been named as the Big XII Co Defensive Player of the Year! Congrats to Malik!

  • Two Mesquite ISD Teams Qualify for the 2017 Football Playoffs!

    The Horn Jags and the Poteet Pirates have both qualified for the football playoffs here in 2017. The Jags finished the year with a 9-1 record and as district champions in District 11-6A.  They play Oak Ridge High School in the Bi Dist round of the playoffs Friday night, Nov. 17.

    The Poteet Pirates will play Marshall in the first round of the playoffs Friday, Nov. 17 at Royse City.  Both games are 7:30 kickoffs.  Congratulations to both teams...and good luck Friday night!"

  • Horn wide receiver, Maurice Wren caught 12 passes last week in the Jags win for 204 yards. Both of those stats are new school records for a receiver at Horn High School!  Congrats to Maurice.

  • Poteet emerged from a 14-team field to claim the title at the USA Football 7on7 National Championships Series tournament at The Star in Frisco on Friday and Saturday.  The event featured 14 teams from five different states with several notable names.

 

  • Poteet ex and Texas junior linebacker Malik Jefferson was named to the preseason watch list for the 2017 Bednarik Award, the Maxwell Football Club announced on Monday morning.   • Coach Kody Groves, head football coach at Poteet High School is the fastest to reach 40 career wins among coaches in Mesquite ISD and his .777 (42-12) winning percentage is the best in MISD history!

 

  • Star Local Media recently selected Kaylor Harris of Horn HS as the Best Female Athlete of the year for the 2016-2017 school year!  Kaylor qualified to run at the State Track Meet her junior and senior seasons.  She two silver medals at the State meet as a junior (100 meters and long jump) and followed that up with two golds (4x100 relay and 100 hurdles) and one silver (100 meters) as a senior.  Kaylor now is moving on to run college track and field at Texas Tech University.
